Former President Dr. Mulatu Teshome’s remarks on the day he delivered his resign letter
“I feel great about being able to serve my own people and country.”
“I feel that I have faithfully carried out my assignment. Thanksgiving to the People and the Nation.”
“During the past three years in my presidential term, the country has suffered a number of security threats. So as there was no return the demands of democracy, development, and because of unfair use of rule of law, the people were angered.”
The President also
…says that they support the change in the past six months.
… supports the Ethio-Eritrea relationhip. Their relationship have been renewed and political forces are allowed to enter the country.
“These achievements do not distract us, but we have to work hard to increase the achievements that have been achieved…It makes me very happy to be part of the change in the country now …My hopes are huge…Today it’s a joy to have committed leaders who continues to embark on a revolutionary change in Ethiopia.”
“As a result, I have decided to transfer highest position of government, , for the next generations, in which I was responsible for the past five years. so I ask that the honorable council to accept my resign letter and dismiss me from the FDRE’s president.”
